Here is a note from our friend Gary Goggins at the NWS Birmingham on the weather situation for Alabama:

Good evening, everyone. Forecast updates for this evening are already out. The current severe threat area remains the same at this time, with our western tier of counties still under the threat of severe thunderstorms with a few tornadoes possible. Looking at the current evolution of the approaching storms, a QLCS looks to be developing, with supercell storms farther south across SW Mississippi. Right now, the environment is still stable across Central AL, with 50s dewpoints still being observed, but that could quickly change across the west with a very strong low level jet approaching. KGWX vad winds are indicating almost 50 knots at 1500 feet, so things could destabilize rapidly for our western counties. We will continue to monitor the mesoscale environment throughout the night for any possible changes to the forecast, and we will let you know here what those will be.
