The bulk of the severe weather is now making its way into our area. Numerous power outages in our western counties where a severe thunderstorm warnings are in place. Getting reports of widespread wind damage from Fayette and Lamar Counties. Highway 18 is blocked by downed trees.
The Weather Service is asking people to use extreme caution with these storms as they are very intense. Not currently tornadic, but these storms are packing a punch. These storms do have broad rotation, but very intense winds are likely affecting the Interstate 22 corridor. These storms will continue to move east and will be impacting the Birmingham during rush hour.
