Showers and storms continue this morning over mainly northeast Alabama, but they are below severe limits.

Lots of lightning and heavy rain is occurring from the Birmingham area northeast through Gadsden to near Fort Payne. Another cluster of storms is between Piedmont and Centre.

Can’t rule out an isolated severe storm today, but organized severe weather is not expected.

There are some moderate showers over South central Alabama in the US-80 corridor, but little if any thunder with them.

Widely scattered storms are over eastern Mississippi, ahead of the cold front, which is between Oxford and Tupelo at this hour. It’s not a very strong front anyway and it will slowly push east and wash out over the next 24 hours.
