As expected this afternoon showers and a few thunderstorms have developed across north central Alabama. Nothing strong or severe, just some afternoon thundershowers with some gusty winds and heavy rain. This activity is moving rapidly to the southeast and and will not be impacting any one location for very long.
Showers are moving into Birmingham currently and stretch down to Tuscaloosa. Additional showers have developed behind this initial line and we are seeing them in Lamar and Fayette Counties. Areas from Cullman to Gadsden as well as locations around Wedowee are seeing more intense showers currently.
We can expect scattered showers through the rest of the afternoon and evening hours. This unsettled weather will be on its way out of here overnight as a front swings through the state bringing cooler and drier air for the second half of the weekend.
