If you enjoyed the weather yesterday, you should like today as well. Expect a good supply of sunshine with a high in the low to mid 80s; humidity levels will remain rather low. A stalled front is near the Florida/Alabama border, and showers remain possible today on the Gulf Coast at places like Destin and Panama City.

TOMORROW/WEDNESDAY: An upper trough will move through Alabama, bringing the threat of showers to our state. Also, the broad surface low, formerly “Invest 95L” that was in the Bay of Campeche last week, will move toward the Gulf Coast as well. For our part of the state, rain amounts of 1/2 to 1 inch look likely, with the main window for rain coming from about 12:00 noon tomorrow through 12:00 noon Wednesday. There might be a little thunder in spots, but there is no risk of severe weather.

THURSDAY/FRIDAY: These two days will be warm and dry; the sky will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 80s. Morning lows will be in the 60s. No risk of rain for high school football games late in the week.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: The dry weather continues on Saturday. Ample sunshine with a high in the mid 80s; no threat of rain for college football games in the state during the day, or Saturday night. Then, on Sunday, an approaching cold front could bring a few showers late in the day, but they are more likely Sunday night. Not much dynamic support for the front, so rain totals probably won’t be too heavy, and no severe weather to deal with.

A few lingering showers are possible on Monday, then dry air returns Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

TROPICS: Amazingly quiet for mid to late September, and tropical storm formation is not expected through mid-week.

GULF COAST WEATHER: Showers are possible today across the Florida Panhandle, including Destin and Panama City. Rain becomes likely along the Gulf Coast tonight and tomorrow from Panama City over to Gulf Shores, but the latter half of the week (Wednesday through Friday) looks nice with mostly sunny days and fair nights. Highs will be in the upper 70s today and tomorrow, with 80s Wednesday through Friday. The sea water temperature this morning at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab is 78 degrees.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes.
