ALL IS CALM: We begin the day with no rain on radar; there are some low clouds and patches of fog around, but once that burns off the day should be generally sunny with a high in the low 80s. Humidity levels will be lower as well as drier air as moved into the state.
TOMORROW THROUGH THE WEEKEND: We stay rain-free, with mostly sunny pleasant days and clear cool nights. Afternoon highs will remain in the 80-84 degree range, with lows between 58 and 62. Makes for an easy forecast.
NEXT WEEK: A weak front will move close to North Alabama early in the week and dissipate, and it could bring a shower or two Monday, but the latest GFS runs looks pretty dry, and I sure get the idea any showers will be few and far between. Bottom line is that October kicks off with more quiet, benign weather across Alabama and the Deep South next week.
FOOTBALL WEATHER: Dry and pleasant for the high school football games tonight and tomorrow night; the sky will be clear with temperatures falling through the 70s, reaching the 60s by the fourth quarter in many stadiums around here.
Saturday, Alabama hosts Ole Miss (5:30p CT kickoff) at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. The sky will be clear; about 80 degrees at kickoff, with temperatures falling through the 70s during the game.
UAB is in Nashville to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores Saturday evening (6:30p CT kickoff); clear weather is the story there as well with temperatures falling from near 76 at kickoff, into the 60s by the fourth quarter.
Samford and Jacksonville State both have Saturday afternoon home games; the weather will be great with lots of sun and kickoff temperatures in the low 80s at Birmingham and Jacksonville.
TROPICS: Tropical storm formation is not expected for the next five days across the Atlantic basin as very calm conditions continue.
BEACH FORECAST: Mostly sunny days, fair nights through early next week from Panama City over to Gulf Shores with highs in the 80s. Delightful early fall weather.
WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
