HISTORIC FLOODING ON THE GULF COAST: One home weather station near Pensacola measured 24 inches of rain in 25 hours, and serious, life threatening flooding is underway in the broad area from Orange Beach over to Pensacola.
This large mass of rain and storms on the coast blocked the inflow of deep moisture up into North and Central Alabama last night, and that kept severe storms from developing in our part of the state. The severe weather “no show” was quite welcome after Monday night’s severe thunderstorm event.
THE DAY AHEAD: Rain lingers over parts of Central Alabama this morning (showers are over parts of Chilton and Coosa Counties as I write this), but the rest of the state is dry, and the sky should become partly sunny this afternoon as drier air moves in; the high today will be mid 70s.
TOMORROW/FRIDAY: Dry weather continues with partly sunny days and fair nights; tomorrow’s high will be close to 70, with low 70s by Friday.
THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Looks delightful. Sunny Saturday and Sunday; Saturday morning will be cool with a low in the 40s, but we rise into the upper 70s Saturday, and low to mid 80s Sunday.
The warm, dry weather continues into at least the first half of next week with highs in the 80s as we get a nice chance to dry out.
RACE WEEKEND: No rain at the Talladega Superspeedway through the weekend; nights will be pretty chilly with early morning lows in the 40s tomorrow through Saturday, but days will be delightful with highs in the 69-75 degree range. The weather turns warmer Sunday at Talladega with a high in the low to mid 80s.
WEATHER RADIO PROGRAMMING: We will be at the Publix in Pell City today from 3:30 until 6:30 p.m. Need help with your Weather Radio? Come see us.
WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. We will produce this week’s show tomorrow night at 8:30 CT.

I will be doing a weather program today at Alexandria Elementary in Calhoun County… then on to Pell City for Weather Radio programming. I should be able to get back to the “two a day” schedule tomorrow. Enjoy the day!
