Storms are lined up near I-59 this evening in the Tuscaloosa area and northeast of Birmingham.

They are heaviest from Peterson to LakeView and back to West Blocton and Vance, and on the eastern side of the Birmingham Metro and in the Gadsden area over to Piedmont.

Minor flooding is being reported in Tuscaloosa from torrential rains. The storms are not severe, but all of the storms have very heavy rain and copious amounts of lightning. They could have strong, gusty winds as well.

The storms are lined up near a quasi-stationary front. Everything is moving east northeast at about 15-20 mph. The eastern Tuscaloosa County storms will affect the southern half of the Birmingham Metro area over the next couple of hours.

The storms should weaken quickly after sunset.
