The rain is now over the eastern two thirds of Alabama this afternoon. It will be ending in Birmingham shortly and has already ended in Tuscaloosa.
1.24 inches of rain had fallen at the Birmingham Airport through 2:13 p.m.
The heaviest rain is now west of Scottsboro in North Alabama and extends from Dadeville to Shorter to Troy in East Central and South Central Alabama.
There is some lightning south of I-85, and we can’t rule out a brief severe threat down there, but for the rest of Central Alabama the threat is over.
Winds are still gusting to over 20 mph across much of the area, but those winds will be calming as we go through the afternoon.
