The Winter Weather Advisory for a number of counties in Central and
North Central Alabama expires at 6 this morning. This includes the
Birmingham Metropolitan Area. Over Extreme North Alabama the Advisory
continues until noon.
There was more snow in Extreme North Alabama so the NWS, Huntsvile,
maintains a Winter Storm Warning until noon for Cullman, Marshall and
Dekalb County
So, for Birmingham, plain old rain–although a cold rain. The
Birmingham temperature edged upward during the night and was at 36 at
5 o’clock this morning. We had originally forecast a high of 39 for
today. It may be even a bit higher, say 40 or 41.
A HEADS UP
Not sealed in stone yet, but there are indications that we could
experience some of the coldest weather we have seen all winter toward
the end of next week. Lets hope not but we will be on watch.
MORNING DRIVE
Suggest allowing a few minutes extra time for that this morning. Can’t
rule out a few lingering ice patches from last night even though
temperatures remained above freezing all night.
