The good news as of 5:06 am, we currently do not have any severe thunderstorm warnings or tornado warnings in effect for anyone in North/Central Alabama. The bad news is that there is still plenty of moderate to heavy rainfall out there to continue to cause issues with flooding on roadways and interstates.
A Flash Flood Warning continues for portions of Jefferson, Shelby, and St.Clair counties until 6:30 am.
Instability remains elevated over the southern half of the area and up into the extreme eastern parts of Central Alabama as values are up in the 500-1500 J/kg range. You couple that with wind shear values in the 60-70 knot range, the atmosphere is still ripe for the potential of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds and a few tornadoes. With that being said, Significant Tornado Parameters are maxing out over 4,0 in the southeastern parts of the area. Anything over 2.0 means the potential is there for a strong tornado.

The Storm Prediction Center has an Enhanced Risk up for nearly all of the southeastern corner of Central Alabama throughout the rest of the morning to at least the midday hour on Thursday. Behind that to the west, a Slight Risk is up for locations south of a line from roughly Selma to Billingsley to Ranburne. And behind the slight and enhanced risks, a Marginal Risk is up all of the ways to the I-59 corridor in the northern half of Central Alabama stretching from Sand Rock to Hoover to Linden.

A Tornado Watch continues until 8:00 am for Autauga, Bibb, Calhoun, Chilton, Cleburne, Dallas, Lowndes, Marengo, Perry, Shelby, St. Clair, and Talladega counties.

Another Tornado Watch continues until 12:00 pm for Barbour, Bullock, Chambers, Clay, Coosa, Elmore, Lee, Macon, Montgomery, Pike, Randolph, Russell, and Tallapoosa counties.
The severe threat will continue for the east and southeastern parts of the area for the rest of the morning until the activity will be exiting the state before midday.
A Flash Flood Watch continues for nearly all of Central Alabama and all of North Alabama until 6:00 pm tonight.
