RADAR CHECK: Scattered showers and thunderstorms continue to develop in the humid air across Alabama this afternoon. Away from the showers, the sky is partly sunny with temperatures in the 80s. Showers will slowly fade tonight.

TOMORROW: High resolution models suggest the highest coverage of showers and storms across Alabama tomorrow could actually come during the morning hours, with widely scattered storms forming again late in the day and tomorrow night. Not much sun… the high tomorrow will be in the low 80s for most places.
We also note SPC has introduced a low end “marginal risk” of severe thunderstorms tomorrow for much of North and West Alabama.

Heavier storms could produce gusty winds, but lightning is always the bigger concern with storms this time of the year.
The weather won’t change much over the holiday weekend. Very warm, very humid, highs in the 80s, and the daily round of scattered showers and thunderstorms.
*Is there a chance of some rain Saturday, Sunday, and Monday? Yes.
*Will it rain all day on any given day? No.
*Will it rain everywhere each day? No.
Some get soaked from a passing storm, but some places get nothing. Most, but not all, of the showers will come from about 2:00 until 10:00 p.m.
You will see some sun, they will get the games in, and the big festivals and events will go on. But, just be ready for a rain/lightning delay, especially during the afternoon and evening hours over the weekend.
REST OF NEXT WEEK: The pattern holds. Warm, humid days with showers and storms around daily, mostly during the afternoon and evening hours. Highs remain in the 80s… See the video briefing for maps, graphics, and more details.

SEC BASEBALL: The annual SEC baseball tournament continues through Sunday in Hoover. Each day there is the risk of a few passing showers or storms, mainly during the 2:00-10:00 p.m. window. They get the games in, but a rain/lightning delay is certainly possible each day. Afternoon highs will be in the mid 80s.
ON THIS DATE IN 1987: An F2 tornado moved through parts of Double Springs, in Winston County. One man died while visiting a construction site. One school was damaged, one automobile was destroyed, and a construction site was destroyed.
Look for the next video briefing here by 6:00 a.m. tomorrow…
