Radar Check At 7:05 PM
We continue to have scattered thunderstorms moving through Central Alabama at this time, with a pretty hefty thunderstorm moving over the central parts of Jefferson County, with more scattered storm stretching northward through parts of Walker, Cullman, Blount and up into Winston County. These storms continue to have decent amounts of cloud-to-ground lightning and heavy rainfall. Winds could be gusty, around 20-30 MPH. If you are heading to the Barons game tonight, the start has been delayed due to lightning in the area, along with heavy rainfall.
We have a few more scattered storms over portions of Lowndes, Montgomery, and Russell counties, and up in Elmore, Coosa, Tallapoosa, and Chambers counties. These are also putting down heavy rain and a decent amount of cloud-to-ground lightning.
The good news is that the severe storm threat has ended for the night, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we have one become strong before these eventually diminish during the night. If any become strong or briefly severe, we’ll have the information for you.
