This is my first ever blog post for the “On The Road Category” James is the king of that. But I just gotta post this story about Moundville, near where I grew up, in the north edge of Hale County:

NATIONAL STORY ABOUT MOUNDVILLE
There is a great story about Moundville in the current edition of Guideposts Magazine. (We subscribe and it is a great magazine) The story is by Kristie Taylor, a graduate of the University of Alabama and her passion was marine biology. She worked in that field for the National Science Foundation in Alaska.

However, the heart of the story, concerns her return to West Alabama to see her family. She stayed and was the instructor of a marine biology class at Hale County High School. Then she met Larry Taylor and events moved fast. She married Larry’s son, Scott.

Meanwhile, Larry, who already ran Moundville Telephone Company and is publisher of the Moundville Times (yes, we subscribe to that also) decided to buy the legendary Miss Melissa’s Cafe in Downtown Moundville. He upgraded it and he talked Kristie (now his daughter-in-law) into becoming the manager!

The cafe has a great reputation and known far and wide for top-notch food and very friendly service.

Even though that is also my home area (I grew up at Havana Junction, 6 miles south, I still have not eaten at Miss Melissa’s. Absolutely gotta do that. I will try to lure James Spann to go with me. He is the legendary food joint grader in Alabama and the King of BBQ.

If I take him there, he may overdose.

Me too…
