A few small, light showers in Alabama at this hour probably not affecting more than one percent of the state. Temperatures at mid-day were in the 60s everywhere.

By far, the main interest is west of Alabama. At noon a line of showers and thunderstorms extended from West Tennessee southwestward across Northwest Mississippi to near Vicksburg, then across Louisiana to near Houston. Quite a bit of lightning although that has lessened just a bit. It should increase again in the warmth of this afternoon.

The Storm Prediction Center has posted a “slight risk” for these areas for the remainder of this afternoon and tonight:

* Southeast Louisiana
* All of Mississippi except the Northwest
* Small part of Northwest and West Central Alabama.

Our better chance of having those showers and thunderstorms will be late today and especially tonight.

We could get an inch of rain and maybe more in some areas.
