NOTE: Be sure and scroll down to see some interesting flash-flood notes near and along the coast posted by James. I am working on a long list of rain amounts but I am holding off until all the NWS coop observer reports from South Alabama and NW Florida are in, Those reports are just as accurate as those from hourly reporting stations.
But I want to mention this note from Brian Peters vacationing at Orange Beach. He reports more than 8 inches of rain and possibly 12 inches based on doppler radar estimates, He said he believes those estimates. Brian said, “it rained almost all day Thursday and heavy rain extended well into this (Friday) morning. Winds were strong on the 6th floor of their condo about one miles from the Alabama/Florida line.”
Just before 10 this morning, the rain had lessened greatly in the Mobile-Gulf Shores-Orange Beach-Pensacola area. Lots of rain still in progress from about Destin and Fort Walton eastward to Panama City, Apalachicola and Tallahassee. Moderate to heavy rain also lingers over SE Alabama and South-central Georgia.
Whole system is moving east and overall, it looks to be a little weaker.
Hope to have a long list of rain amounts from Alabama/Florida/Georgia by around 11.
