That cluster of thunderstorms with very heavy rain that crossed the Georgia border into Northeast Alabama a few hours ago is still progressing toward the southwest.
At 6:50 pm, the storms were entering North Talladega County and quickly moving into St. Clair County. The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement (a Significant Weather Advisory) until 7:30 pm for Talladega, Northeast Shelby and Southern St. Clair County for wind gusts to 40 mph, along with very heavy rain and frequent dangerous lightning.
The storms, still loaded with lightning and producing heavy rain will head toward Shelby County and maybe into parts of Jefferson County.
Meanwhile, over on the west side of the state most of the storms have moved out except in Lamar County.
