Our line of thunderstorms over Northwest and West Central Alabama has weakened a bit tonight.
It extends from southern Winston County through extreme southeastern Winston County through Fayette and Lamar Counties and into Mississippi to near Aberdeen and Starkville.
No severe thunderstorms warnings are in effect along the part of the line that will be moving into WEst Central or Northwest Alabama.
That doesn’t mean any of the storms couldn’t become severe but it is a good sign.
The severe thunderstorm watch has been canceled for the 6 Northwest Alabama counties in Huntsville responsibility, leaving just Cullman County in effect until 3 a.m.
The watch continues for the following counties in Birmingham’s area oof responsibility: Autauga, Barbour, Bibb, Blount, Bullock, Chambers, Chilton, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Marion, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Pike, Russell, Shelby, Sumter, Tallapoosa, Tuscaloosa, Walker, and Winston Counties till 3 a.m.
Certainly the watch will be canceled well before 3 am.
ON A SIDE NOTE: Congratulations to our Birmingham Stallions who are going to the USFL Championship Game for the second straight year. They won a convincing victory tonight at home against the new Orleans Breakers in front of a great crowd at Protective Stadium.
