Late tonight (at 11:45 pm) widespread rain and thunderstorms advancing eastward through West Alabama with lots of heavy rain and lightning but no formal warning in effect.
The large rain area is solid and has now advanced as far east as Winston, Walker, Tuscaloosa and Hale County.
Now moving into the Birmingham Metro area.
Lots of lightning in Vestavia, thunder heard in Trussville
For the Birmingham area, look for lots of rain, heavy at times, frequent lightning and thunder and maybe some strong gusty winds for the next several hours.
Severe Thunderstorm Watch continues in Mississippi but not Alabama. We believe the cooler more stable air in our area will discourage a warning.
But with thunderstorms, we can never be a full 100% certain.
That is what makes life and weather interesting!
