Occasional Showers/Thunderstorms Through Tomorrow
WET PATTERN PERSISTS: A persistent upper trough over the region will keep the weather across Alabama unsettled through the first half of the week. We have a number of showers and storms on radar early this morning, and we expect a mostly cloudy sky through tomorrow statewide with occasional showers and thunderstorms. No risk of organized severe storms, but the stronger ones will produce heavy rain and lots of lightning. Continue reading
Summer Mix Of Sun And Storms Over The Weekend
RADAR CHECK: The northern half of Alabama is relatively dry at mid-afternoon with only isolated showers, but showers and storms are extensive to the west over East Mississippi, and over the southwest counties of Alabama. Flash flood warnings were required for parts of Baldwin County, where over three inches of rain came down this morning. A number of showers and thunderstorms will develop over North/Central Alabama over the next 6-8 hours in a moist, unstable airmass. Away from showers, temperatures are mostly in the upper 80s. Continue reading
Scattered To Numerous Showers/Storms Develop Later Today
SUN AND STORMS: A moist, unstable airmass will sit over Alabama for the foreseeable future, and with an upper trough north and west of the state that means scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms on a daily basis through the weekend. It won’t be an all-day rain, or a washout, but just know that you will deal with a few passing showers or storms, especially from about 1:00 until 11:00 p.m. Continue reading
Showers/Storms To Increase In Coming Days
RADAR CHECK: We have a few scattered showers and thunderstorms across Central Alabama at mid-afternoon, in a broad band from near Centreville to Clanton to Auburn. The showers are drifting north, and will end after sunset. The rest of the state has a partly sunny sky, and temperatures are mostly in the 87-91 degree range. Continue reading
Showers Remain Widely Scattered This Afternoon; Hot And Humid
QUIET WEATHER PATTERN CONTINUES: The air aloft over Alabama was warmer yesterday, resulting in a more stable airmass, and a reduction in the number of scattered showers and thunderstorms. Things won’t be much different today; we are forecasting a partly to mostly sunny sky today with just a handful of widely scattered showers or storms this afternoon and into the evening hours. Continue reading
Storms Remain Widely Scattered Tomorrow
RADAR CHECK: As advertised, showers and storms are fewer in number across Alabama today. The sky is partly sunny statewide with temperatures generally between 86 and 90 degrees. Widely scattered showers and storms will end soon after sunset, and the sky will be mostly fair late tonight. Continue reading
Showers/Storms Fewer In Number Today/Tomorrow
A FEW AFTERNOON SHOWERS/STORMS: We do note a few isolated showers early this morning over the northwest corner of Alabama, but the rest of the state is rain-free as the day begins with temperatures around 70 degrees. Upper ridging builds over the region temporarily, and that should mean a decrease in the number of showers and thunderstorms both today and tomorrow; odds of any one spot getting wet both days are in the 20-30 percent range. Continue reading
Humid Days With Scattered Storms
RADAR CHECK: Again this afternoon we have scattered showers and thunderstorms in progress across Alabama. Stronger storms at mid-afternoon were west of I-65, and were producing very heavy rain, gusty winds, and lots of lightning. Away from the showers the sky is partly sunny with temperatures mostly in the mid 80s. Storms will fade away tonight after sunset. Continue reading
Sun And Scattered Afternoon Storms
WARM, HUMID SUMMER DAY: Alabama’s weather won’t change much for the rest of the week. A blanket of moist air will continue to hang over Alabama and the Deep South, which is what you expect in mid-summer around here. And, like recent days, we will have to dodge scattered showers and thunderstorms, mostly during the afternoon and evening hours. It won’t rain everywhere; the chance of any one spot getting wet today is in the 50-60 percent range. Continue reading
Showers/Storms Thinning Out A Bit In Coming Days
RADAR CHECK: As advertised, we have numerous showers and thunderstorms across Alabama this afternoon. The stronger storms are producing very heavy rain, gusty winds, and lots of lightning. SPC maintains a low end, “marginal risk” (level 1/5) of severe thunderstorms for much of the state through the evening hours. Continue reading
