Big storms continue across Central Alabama tonight.

They have organized into two nearly solid east-west bands.

One extends from Pickens across northern Tuscaloosa County, then across southern/western parts of the Birmingham Metro to near Talladega then on across Clay and Randolph Counties.

The other extends from northern Sumter across Greene, Hale, southern Bibb, Chilton and Coosa Counties.

The heavier ones feature intense downpours and frequent lightning.

We are getting lots of reports of minor flooding from the southern part of Jefferson County, especially on area roads.

The storms are ahead of a cold front that is knifing through North Central Alabama at this hour. It now extends generally along I-59. It will bring us some lower humidity and increasing sunshine for tomorrow. Some lucky folks might even see 50s Thursday morning.
