We can thank Irene for the drier, fresher air that is present over Alabama this weekend. Or perhaps the trough that turned her out to the north and eventually the northeast.

It is still hot across Central Alabama today, just not quite as hot as yesterday, trading the triple digit heat of Friday for middle 90s today. But the dewpoints are considerably lower than they have been the past few days. The fresh northwesterly breeze is helping a little bit too.

We will drop into the middle 60s overnight, in fact for the next two nights as well. Some spots will make the lower 60s tonight, and can’t rule out a few isolated reports in the 50s as well in the normally cooler spots. We will be back in the lower 90s tomorrow with another case of severe clear and a light northwesterly breeze.
