COOL, FALL BREEZE: The rain that moved across Alabama yesterday and last night is now off to the east, and a refreshing airmass is moving into Alabama, which will feature the coolest air so far this season. Some observations just before daybreak…

The sky will be mostly sunny today with a high not too far from 70 degrees with a fresh northwest breeze. Then, we expect the coolest night so far this season tonight; by daybreak tomorrow we will be in the 46-52 degree range with a clear sky.
REST OF THE WEEK: Nice, quiet, dry weather. October is our driest month of the year, so long dry spells are common. We expect sunny pleasant days, and clear cool nights through Friday with just a gradual day to day warming trend. The high will be back to near 80 degrees by the end of the week. After tonight, lows will be generally in the 50s.
THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: No real change. Dry air means lots of sunshine Saturday and Sunday; the high both days will be at or just over 80 degrees, with lows in the 50s. Another big storm coming out of the Rockies will lift into Canada with no impact here.
NEXT WEEK: Seems like our next shot at getting some rain in here will be toward the middle of the week… around October 15-16. See the Weather Xtreme video for the maps, graphics, and details.
TROPICS: Tropical Storm Karen fizzled out over the northern Gulf over the weekend; about the only system to watch this morning is in the far East Atlantic. This one has some potential for slow development in coming days, but it will be gaining latitude and if anything does form there more than likely it remains far from land. The quiet hurricane season of 2013 is still quiet.
AT THE BEACH: Great weather from Panama City over to Gulf Shores through the weekend, with sunny days and fair nights. Highs will be in the 77-82 degree range, with lows mostly in the 60s.
WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. We will produce this week’s show tonight at 8:30p CT… you can watch it on “James Spann 24/7” on cable systems around the state, or on the web here.
