FINE FALL WEATHER: What a great weekend ahead. Dry air makes for a very simple forecast; sunny pleasant days and clear chilly nights. Highs will be in the 60s, lows down around 40 by early Sunday, with 30s for colder pockets. With the fall colors popping out, it will be a great time to get outside and enjoy the autumn season.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Could not be better for high school football games tonight. Clear with temperatures falling through the 50s during the games around North/Central Alabama.

Auburn plays at Arkansas tomorrow (5:00pm CT kickoff); the sky will be sunny with a kickoff temperature near 55 degrees, falling quickly into the 40s by halftime. UAB will host Middle Tennessee State Saturday at Legion Field in Birmingham (12:00pm CT kickoff); the sky will be sunny. About 61 degrees at kickoff, 64 degrees by the final whistle with a stiff north wind of 10-20 mph. Alabama is taking the week off.

NEXT WEEK: The 12Z GFS is a little slower with our next storm system, suggesting showers and storms arrive late Wednesday night or Thursday. The main dynamics pass well north of Alabama and for now severe weather doesn’t look to be an issue. See the Weather Xtreme video for the maps, graphics, and details.

AT THE BEACH: Sunny days, clear nights along the Gulf Coast from Panama City to Gulf Shores through early next week. Highs in the low 70s, lows in the 50s.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
