CALM DAYS: Alabama’s weather will remain unusually calm for April for the next seven days as an upper ridge keeps the primary rain/storm producing systems north and west of here. Today will be mostly sunny with a high in the 74-82 degree range. Most Alabama communities will rise into the low to mid 80s tomorrow with a good supply of sunshine.

The weekend will be warm and dry with highs in the 80s, lows generally in the 50s.

NEXT WEEK: No change for the rest half of the week. While an active severe weather pattern is setting up west and north of Alabama, we will stay warm and dry for the first half of the week. A few showers will likely return late Thursday or Friday, but at this point severe storms are not expected, and rain amounts won’t be especially heavy. See the video briefing for maps, graphics, and more details.

ON THIS DATE IN 1947: A violent tornado family traveled 170 miles through Texas and Oklahoma, killing 181 people and devastating the town of Woodward, OK.
