STILL DRY: Alabama’s weather will remain rain-free through Friday with mostly sunny, pleasant days and clear cool nights. Highs will hold in the 75-80 degree range, with lows in the 40s and 50s.

THE WEEKEND: Moisture levels begin to rise Saturday, and we will bring in some risk of a few widely scattered showers. But the best chance of rain over the weekend will likely come on Sunday as a trough aloft approaches. The day won’t be a washout, and severe storms are not expected. But many Alabama communities have a chance of getting around one inch of rain from midnight Saturday night to midnight Sunday night. Highs will be in the 70s both days.

NEXT WEEK: The next round of rain and storms will likely come on Wednesday. There will be good upper support with a decent amount of instability, meaning we might be dealing with strong, possibly severe thunderstorms. But still to be really specific. Cooler, drier air arrives by the end of the week. See the video briefing for maps, graphics, and more details.

TROPICS: All remains quiet across the Atlantic basin and tropical storm formation it not expected for at least the next 7-10 days.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: For Saturday’s Magic City Classic at Legion Field in Birmingham (Alabama State vs Alabama A&M, 2:30p CT kickoff).. we expect a mix sun and clouds with a brief passing shower possible during the game. Temperatures will be in the mid 70s at kickoff, falling to near 70 by the final whistle.

Saturday Auburn will be in Oxford to take on Ole Miss (11:45a CT kickoff)… the sky will be mostly cloudy with the risk of a few passing showers during the game. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 70s.

South Alabama hosts Louisiana Tech Saturday afternoon (2:00p CT kickoff)… expect a mix of sun and clouds with just a small risk of a shower. Temperatures will fall from around 80 degrees during the first half into the upper 70s by the fourth quarter.
