THIS MORNING: The weather is quiet across Alabama this morning, with temperatures generally in the 40s and 50s with scattered clouds in the wake of the MCV that brought some illegal showers to Alabama yesterday.
Look for very pleasant fall weather today through Wednesday, with mostly sunny days and fair nights. We reach the mid 70s today, followed by upper 70s tomorrow and Wednesday. Some communities over West Alabama could touch the 80 degree mark.
THURSDAY COLD FRONT: Next chance of showers and thunderstorms will come on Thursday with a cold front; the latest global model runs have suggested only marginal severe weather parameters, so while a strong storm or two is possible, a major severe weather issue for now looks unlikely. The rain should end early Friday as much cooler air rolls into the state; we might have a hard time getting out of the 50s on Friday with a chilly north breeze.
WEEKEND PEEK: The weekend looks dry but cool with highs in the 60s and lows in the 37-41 degree range. Expect a good deal of sunshine both Saturday and Sunday.
TROPICAL STORM RINA: A new tropical storm formed last night over the Caribbean, packing sustained winds of 40 mph. Rina is expected to strengthen this week, reaching hurricane strength by Thursday or Friday along the coast of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. From there, it could be picked up by an upper trough with a northeast motion toward South Florida, or bypassed by the trough, leaving it in a position to drift west into the Yucatan. One way or another, it should remain well to the south of Alabama and have no impact on our weather. See the Weather Xtreme video for complete details.
