THE WEEKEND: Moisture levels begin to rise, and we will mention the chance of showers both Saturday and Sunday. These days won’t be a wash-out, but just be ready for some rain at times if you have something planned outdoors. No risk of severe thunderstorms, and rain amounts over the weekend will be under one inch for most places.
Expect a high in the 70s Saturday, followed by upper 60s and low 70s Sunday.
NEXT WEEK: The weather will be generally dry Monday and Tuesday with only isolated showers. Then, a dynamic system will bring rain and thunderstorms by mid-week. The latest run of the reliable European global model is suggesting the main chance of rain will come Wednesday and Wednesday night, followed by drier air moving in from the west Thursday. While strong storms are possible with the system Wednesday/Wednesday night, it it still too early to know if severe thunderstorms will be an issue.
The weather looks dry and seasonal Friday and over the following weekend (November 7-8)…. See the video briefing for maps, graphics, and more details.

ON THIS DATE IN 2012: Sandy moved ashore near Brigantine, New Jersey (just northeast of Atlantic City) as a post-tropical cyclone. Sandy taught a generation why the category number doesn’t tell the story. It was officially post-tropical at landfall, with 80 mph winds, but it was the largest Atlantic hurricane on record — gale-force winds spanned 1,150 miles. That size drove a catastrophic surge into New York and New Jersey: a record 13.88 feet of water at the Battery in Manhattan, flooding subway tunnels, airport runways, and whole shore communities.
ON THIS DATE IN 2022: Eleven tornadoes touched down in far South Alabama… 5 in Mobile County and 6 in Baldwin County — 4 rated EF1 and 7 rated EF0.
The strongest in Alabama was the Bon Secour EF1, with peak winds of 110 mph; it rolled a manufactured home and injured 3 people. No fatalities.
