Heavy rain falling across urbanized areas of the Birmingham metro area has triggered an areal flood advisory for Jefferson County. Areas inside a box from Adamsville to Midfield to Vestavia Hills to Leeds to Argo including downtown are in the advisory.
Parts of the Birmingham area have picked up an inch of rain in less than an hour and rain is building from the Trussville area through Tarrant City and northern parts of downtown. Other big storms are building over western sections of Birmingham and will move across much of the metro.
Flooding is being reported in downtown Trussville.
Quarter sized hail was also reported in Trussville at 1:51 p.m.
