Things are a mess right now in Tuscaloosa, with heavy rain falling.

Showers and storms are forming over northern Hale and southern Tuscaloosa Counties and moving northward. There are some heavy, tropical downpours.

If this continues, the game will be really wet.

The surface low is between Jackson and Columbus in Mississippi. On the east side, the southerly flow is resulting in vertical development and the developing showers.

Now the hopeful part: some drying has wrapped around the low into Southwest Alabama. If the low lifts far enough to the north, the showers could lift north of the Capstone and there could just be a few passing showers during the game. Based on radar trends, I am hopeful that this could happen.

But if the same pattern remains in place for the next 5-6 hours, the game will be mostly wet.

Take a rain suit. Umbrellas are prohibited in Bryant Denny Stadium.

Traffic is heavy heading to Tuscaloosa right now with the early game and most folks leaving at the same time, so take that into account as you travel.

Down in Auburn, the Tigers take on the Mountaineers of West Virginia at 6:45 p.m. More showers and storms will form this afternoon and lift northward into the area, setting the stage for a potentially wet game forecast. We will just have to see how radar trends set up.

Have the rain suit handy for the Auburn game as well.

More of the same for UAB and Troy in Troy. Showers and a thunderstorm possible during the game. Again, take the rain gear.
