**No Weather Xtreme video this afternoon; we are on a holiday schedule**
TOO COLD FOR NOVEMBER: Our average high for November 27 (for Birmingham) is 61; most places never made it out of the 30s this afternoon. Birmingham’s record low maximum for this date is 37, set in 1903… we gave that record a good run for the money, but we did reach 39 degrees.
Sharp north winds of 15-25 mph have kept the wind chill index at or below freezing much of the day.
TONIGHT: The sky will stay clear, and the wind will die down. Most places will see a low between 18 and 22 degrees… Birmingham’s record low for November 28 is 20 degrees set in 1950; we will be very close to that. Colder pockets over North Alabama could visit the mid teens. This is a very cold airmass.
THANKSGIVING DAY: Sunshine in full supply, light wind, and not as cold. We reach the mid 40s tomorrow afternoon. Still, 15 degrees below average, but at least we are moving in the right direction.
FRIDAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND: Friday morning will be cold with mid 20s; early shoppers will need to bundle up. But, we warm into the 50s by afternoon with a sunny sky. Dry weather continues Saturday and Sunday with afternoon highs in the upper 50s. Clouds will increase late Sunday, and some light rain is possible by Monday with a short wave moving in from the west. Doesn’t look like a big event.
IRON BOWL: Still looks wonderful. A sunny sky in Auburn Saturday; for the 2:30p CT kickoff at Jordan-Hare Stadium the temperature will be near 55 degrees, falling to around 50 by the final whistle. No risk of rain.
WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
