Well, that was the way it was in earlier years. The “Dinner Bell” would ring at high noon to signal wary people working in the fields to come in for chow and an hour of rest. In those days, farmers called the evening meal, “supper.”
But let me get back to weather before I trigger a debate between dinner and supper.
At noon, there was a line of showers and even a few thunderstorms across North Alabama. The line extended from Columbus, Miss., NE to near Jasper, Guntersville and Fort Payne. Indivuals are moving NE but the line as a whole was moving toward the Southeast. This is near a “cool” front that will bring us some more nice weather.
Some of this is also left-over energy from last night that produced a “significant” tornado in NW Mississippi at Cleveland. There was considerable damage to a Walmart and a Sears store.
So far today, The SPC (Storm Prediction Center) has not placed any of Alabama under even a slight risk for today.
That is a good thing.
Nevertheless, a few of these could become strong so we will watch.
