One of the intensifying storms we have been monitoring in Mississippi has intensified to the point that the NWS Jackson has issued a severe thunderstorm warning now.
It is about 45 minutes away from Pickens and northern Sumter Counties. It will be into northern Greene County within an hour. It could affect Tuscaloosa by 6:45.
Other storms are growing south of Jackson and southwest of Philadelphia.
A tornado watch is in effect for much of western Alabama until 11 p.m.
To the north of this, a thin line of storms is over Marion and Lamar Counties. It will affect Marion, Winston, Lamar, northwestern Walker and northern Fayette Counties between now and 6 p.m.
