A north-south line of showers from NE Mississippi down into South Central Mississippi. A shorter line of showers in West Alabama from Lamar County north to near Red Bay in NW Alabama.

Little or no lightning with any of this.

This is going to be one of those nights when storms move through without excessive lightning.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch continues until 8 pm for East Arkansas and a part of North Mississippi. The watch extends over to the Alabama border. No warnings in Mississippi so far and no storm reports.

We may get a watch later tonight.

Even without thunderstorms, winds will get quite strong late tonight due to conditions aloft combined with the approach of a very strong cold front and a strong low pressure area passing NW of Alabama. Winds may gust over 40 mph at times.

WHERE IS THE COLD FRONT?
Getting very near the Mississippi River. It is 72 degrees in Memphis, 73 in Vicksburg and 75 in Natchez contrasting with the 30s in Shreveport.
