At 9:30 tonight, the long line of thunderstorms extended from Northern Lower Michigan all the way to SE Texas. Considerable lightning continues all along the line. These watches are in effect:

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH UNTIL 2 AM CST
* Southeast Arkansas
* Northeast and Central Louisiana
* Extreme West Mississippi

TORNADO WATCH UNTIL 11 PM CST
* Northeast Arkansas
* East Central Arkansas
* Missouri Bootheel
* Extreme West Tennessee
* Northwest corner of Mississippi
At Pocahontas, in East Arkansas, trees and power lines were down across the city with nickle to quarter-size hail. There were a number of other reports like that.

We are watching this line of storms closely. However, there are good indications that these storms will weaken as they move east into a more stable environment–especially before they reach Alabama after midnight and into the wee morninmg hours.

But we will keep one eye cocked toward the NW just to be sure.
