If you wake up early Tuesday morning, you will be treated to the second lunar eclipse of the year.
It will begin at 2:52 a.m. CDT as the moon begins to skip into the shadow of the Earth. It will take about 40 minutes for the left side of the moon to take on a red smudgy color.
The moon will increasingly take on a blood red color as totality approaches.
Totality will begin at 4:52 a.m. CDT and end at 6:22 a.m. CDT. This means that the end of the eclipse will be truncated by the growing light of the rising sun.
While we will get a good view, observers on the West Coast will get a better view, with the eclipse occurring while the moon is still high in the sky.
Still, a wonderful treat! See you early Tuesday morning!
