Showers have been ongoing through most of the day and evening across Tennessee Valley and they are beginning to increase.

They are occurring just to the north of a frontal zone over Central Alabama.

They are starting to increase in response to an approaching upper level disturbance.

The RPM model indicates this activity will continue to increase through the night and will push southward through the pre-dawn hours. Here is a loop starting at 4 a.m.

The thunderstorms will be elevated, not surface based, which means they won’t be strong. But elevated storms tend to have very loud thunder, so be prepared.
