The Storm Prediction Center has updated their Day One Severe Weather Outlook, and it now shows that the southeastern parts of Central Alabama is under a Slight Risk for severe storms for the remainder of the daylight hours until around 6 pm tonight. The Slight Risk includes locations east of a line from Opelika to Shorter to Linwood to just north of Texasville.

A Marginal Risk continues for much of the rest of the southern half of Central Alabama along and south of a line from Boligee to Columbiana to just south of Ranburne.

The main threats for today will be from damaging thunderstorm wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-size hail, but we also have a non-zero tornado threat, so a brief tornado is possible.
