Had a nice chat with long-time friend, James Price this afternoon. James is the official NWS Cooperative Observer for Pinson and his records go back 57 years.

His records are immaculate and exceedingly accurate. He has won awards from the U.S. Department of Commerce, the parent agency of the NWS.

James reports that Pinson rainfall for the last 12 months (July 2006 through June 2007 amounted to only 28.83 inches. Previous record for any consecutive 12 months was 33/76 inches in 1985-1986.

Pinson normal rain for that 12 months is about 54 inches.

Yep, it is known as a drought!
