Storms over Central Alabama have weakened considerably in the past hour.
At 5:40, the exceptions are…
…over Hale County…
…in the Tuscaloosa area…where storms are growing…over the city and to the north of Holt
…over Clay County
…and approaching Alexander City from the north.
It’s 97F still at the Tuscaloosa Airport, and the atmosphere over there has not been worked over by storms, so development over the county could become strong.
LATE NOTE…
The Tuscaloosa storms have not been able to sustain themselves despite the intense heating nearby…they have weakened. They were apparently enhanced by a passing outflow boundary.
A few reports of large hail today and some scattered wind damage reports…mainly trees down on roads and power lines…especially across Shelby County.
1.04 inches of rain in Cahaba Heights according to Alston Keith. He was one of the lucky ones.
