Showers/Storms To Increase In Coming Days
UNSETTLED PATTERN: The air across Alabama will become more unstable in coming days, and moisture levels will rise, setting the stage for an unsettled pattern through the weekend. We expect a mix of sun and clouds today and tomorrow with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms, mostly between 12:00 noon and 12:00 midnight. Showers Fewer In Number So Far This Afternoon
RADAR CHECK: Most of the showers and thunderstorms are over the southwest part of Alabama this afternoon in a broad zone from Livingston and Demopolis south to Mobile. Still, a few showers or storms could form over North/Central Alabama from now through about 10:00 tonight. The sky is partly sunny with temperatures in the upper 80s and low 80s for most communities. Hot Afternoon; Low Humidity
DRY AIR: Temperatures are generally between 90 and 97 degrees across Alabama this afternoon, but the air is very dry with dew points down in the 50s in many areas. At 2:30p CT the Shelby County Airport was up to 97 degrees, but the dew point was down to 51, making the relative humidity only 21 percent. Amazingly low for summer in Alabama.
