Drier Weather Next Several Days
Look for a warm and dry day today with highs around 90. Lower precipitable water values keep our chances for rain low through about mid-week when another weak front begins its approach to the Southeast US. Highs for the first half of the week in the lower 90s. Continue reading
Active Storms Over Central/South Alabama

Showers/Storms Tomorrow; A Drier Weekend
TOMORROW AND THE WEEKEND: Not much change in the weather situation tomorrow; the sky will be occasionally cloudy with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms. Scattered To Numerous Showers/Storms Later Today
UNSETTLED THROUGH TOMORROW: A broad upper trough is forming over the eastern U.S. today, and will make the air more unstable across Alabama. This will mean scattered to numerous showers and storms over the next 36 hours… most of them coming from 12:00 noon until 10:00 p.m.. but late night or morning shower is possible as well. A few showers are forming over East Alabama as I write this around 6:00 this morning… mainly over Calhoun, Cherokee, and DeKalb Counties. Continue reading

RADAR CHECK: Showers and storms are becoming numerous over the northern half of Alabama this afternoon… heavier storms are producing strong gusty winds, heavy rain, and lots of lightning as they move northeast. Continue reading
Shower/Storm Coverage Headed Higher
RAIN CHANCES UP, HEAT LEVELS DOWN: The upper ridge across the Deep South will weaken in coming days, making the air more unstable, and opening the door for an increase in the number of showers and thunderstorms across Alabama. While most of the rain will come from roughly 1:00 until 11:00 p.m… we can’t rule out a late night or morning shower as well. In fact, we have a few showers over West Alabama early this morning as I write this discussion. Continue reading

The chance of any one spot getting wet this afternoon is about one in three, and most of the storms will form between 12:00 noon and 8:00 p.m. The high will be in the 93-96 degree range for most communities. Continue reading
