Showers/Storms Increasing Across Alabama This Afternoon
RADAR CHECK: Showers and storms are increasing, especially over the central and southern part of Alabama this afternoon in a moist, unstable airmass. The storms are advancing northward, and many places will see a few passing showers or thunderstorms over the next 8 hours. Stronger storms will be capable of producing small hail and strong gusty winds… the main threat will come from heavy rain and some flooding issues. Continue reading

Warm, Muggy Weather Continues With Showers/Storms Around Again Today
RADAR CHECK: At sunrise we have a few showers over the northern third of Alabama, otherwise the sky is mostly cloudy across Alabama with temperatures in the 68-72 degree range for most places. The weather won’t change much today; warm and humid with some sun at times, and scattered showers and storms firing up again during the afternoon and evening hours. Like yesterday, where storms form they will be very efficient rain producers as we continue to have high precipitable water values in place. Continue reading
Warm, Humid Days With Scattered Showers/Storms
RADAR CHECK: Scattered showers and thunderstorms continue to develop across Alabama this afternoon… so far the greatest rain coverage has been across the southeast counties of the state. Thunderstorms are moving northeast, and the stronger ones are producing heavy rain, gusty winds, and frequent lightning. Showers and storms remain possible tonight, but they should begin to fade after 10:00 p.m. as the air becomes more stable. Continue reading

Warm, Humid Weekend Ahead With Scattered Showers/Storms
RADAR CHECK: As expected, showers are relatively scarce over the northern half of Alabama this afternoon… most of the showers and storms are over the southern counties, mainly south of U.S. 80 (Demopolis to Montgomery to Opelika). Away from showers, temperatures are in the 80s with a mix of sun and clouds over North/Central Alabama. The rain over the southern counties will diminish tonight after sunset. Continue reading
Warm, Humid Weather Continues; A Few Showers This Afternoon
MUGGY JUNE DAYS: Warm, humid weather will continue across Alabama through the weekend. Like most June days, we will have the risk of a few random, “pop up” afternoon showers or storms today and tomorrow, but they should be pretty widely spaced. Odds of any one spot getting wet through tomorrow are in the 20-25 percent range… otherwise look for partly sunny days with highs between 85 and 89 degrees. Continue reading
Trending Drier Tomorrow/Saturday; Still Warm And Humid
RADAR CHECK: Showers and thunderstorms persist across Alabama this afternoon, mostly south of I-59. Heavier storms are capable of producing small hail and strong gusty winds along with very frequent cloud to ground lightning. SPC maintains a “marginal risk” of severe thunderstorms through the evening for areas east of a line from Florence to Montgomery to Eufaula. Continue reading
Scattered Storms Today; Drier Tomorrow/Saturday
RADAR CHECK: A band of thunderstorms is moving through North Alabama early this morning with brief heavy rain and frequent lightning… they are under severe limits, however. Otherwise, it is warm and humid across the state as the day begins. Additional scattered showers and thunderstorms will form later today, and like yesterday some of the heavier storms could produce small hail and strong gusty winds this afternoon. Continue reading
