Unsettled Weather Continues Through Saturday; Drier Sunday
RADAR CHECK: Large areas of rain and a few thunderstorms are seen across North/Central Alabama this afternoon. Stronger storms are producing very heavy rain, gusty winds, and lots of lightning. A few flash flood warnings have been required today, and isolated flooding issues will remain possible through the evening hours. Scattered To Numerous Showers/Storms Through Saturday
UNSETTLED PATTERN: The air has become unstable across Alabama thanks to a weak upper trough nearby, and that will bring an increase in the number of showers and storms statewide through the beginning of the weekend. Of course, there will be good breaks in the rain, but we expect scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms each day. Most, but not all of the rain will come from noon to midnight. Continue reading
Scattered Showers/Storms Develop Later Today
SUN AND STORMS: An upper trough will bring an increase in the number of scattered showers and thunderstorms to Alabama today and tomorrow, but it still won’t rain everywhere. The chance of any one spot getting wet is 30-40 percent, and most of the showers will come from about 1:00 until 10:00 p.m. Otherwise, look for a mix of sun and clouds with a high in the 86-90 degree range. Continue reading

SPC maintains a low end, “marginal risk” (level 1/5) ahead of the line through the evening hours, but the overall severe weather threat is low. Continue reading

Stormy, Unsettled Weather Through Tomorrow Night
RADAR CHECK: Showers and strong thunderstorms are active early this morning, especially over the eastern half of the state. We will maintain the chance of showers and thunderstorms through the day today, but it won’t be an all-day kind of rain, and you might see the sun break out at times. SPC has defined a “slight risk” (level 2/5) of severe storms for parts of Central and East Alabama today, with a “marginal risk” for much of the rest of the state. Continue reading
