A persistent area of showers and some thunder continues along and just south of I-20 early this Sunday morning. Southern parts of the Birmingham Metro are in for a little more rain over the next hour. A cluster of storms near Talladega will move across southern Calhoun and Cleburne Counties.

Other storms extend from Ashland in Clay County south to the Auburn area.

None of the storms are severe and aren’t expected to become severe, but they do have occasional lightning, gusty winds, and brief heavy rains.

To the north, a large mass of rain extends across the northern third of the state, generally east of I-65.

To the east, the large mass of rain has mostly crossed the border into Georgia and is now approaching Atlanta.

To the west, storms over northeastern Louisiana are now over the Mississippi Delta. They have weakened for now. They will move across northern Mississippi.

To the way, way West, intense storms are crossing the Mexican border near Eagle Pass, Texas. These storms will deluge the Texas Hill Country this morning. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for much of South Texas.
