We seem to be good at this lately.

Not just some scattered showers. That’s kid-stuff. Instead a statewide drenching. That is what evolved last evening and continued all night. It is still in progress in the wee hours of this Wednesday. We will try to list some rain amounts later this morning.

At 4 am, the rain had mostly ended from about the Tuscaloosa-Birmingham-Gadsden line northward. But this slow-moving system was still dumping widespread rain, moderate to heavy, over Central and South Alabama. Pushing ever-so-slowly toward the southeast

The heaviest was in a band from Monroeville to Montgomery, Rockford and Atlanta. Still much lightning all the way along a line from Houston to New Orleans, Montgomery and Atlanta.

There has been a lot of windows rattled by loud thunder overnight. A lot of people awakened, Also several reports of hail, most of that from the Tennessee Valley.

There are no watches currently in Alabama but a Tornado Watch is still in effect for South Mississippi and Southeast Louisiana until 5 am.

So now, it is time to lay me down to sleep. It will not be very long until time to arise, greet a new morning, and start all over again.

Tis the life of a weather person….and life goes on…
