RADAR UPDATE: Showers and storms are most numerous over the northeast counties of Alabama this afternoon… but more could form over the next few hours in the moist environment.

TOMORROW: A surface front will push through the state, but there is little upper support, and with warm air aloft we really don’t expect much more than widely scattered, mostly afternoon showers or storms. Otherwise, expect a mix of sun and clouds tomorrow with a high in the mid 80s.

REST OF THE WEEK: I still don’t see much reason to forecast any chance of significant rain Wednesday through Friday. These three days look warm and mostly dry, with partly to mostly sunny days and fair nights. Afternoon highs will remain in the mid 80s, just a few degrees above average for mid to late May in Alabama.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND: No real change for Saturday; partly sunny and very warm with a high in the upper 80s. Then, on Sunday and Monday, we will introduce the risk of “scattered, mostly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms”, which is almost a daily part of summer weather in Alabama. The high Sunday and Monday will be in the mid 80s with a mix of sun and clouds both days.

GULF COAST WEATHER: About 8 to 10 hours each day through the holiday weekend along the coast from Panama City west to Gulf Shores; just a few widely scattered showers and storms each day. Highs on the immediate coast will be in the low 80s, with mid to upper 80s inland. The sea water temperature at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab is 83 degrees this afternoon.
