A disturbance with disorganized showers and thunderstorms is currently over the east-central tropical Atlantic Ocean and is heading to the west-northwest. Slow development is possible over the next two days, but conditions will become more favorable for quicker development and a tropical depression is likely to form by the end of the workweek. NHC gives it an 80% chance of developing into a depression within the next five days.
The second area of concern is over the east-central Gulf of Mexico. Some slight development is likely during the next couple of days but will likely move ashore before gaining depression status by late Monday. The southern coast of Texas looks to be where this system will make landfall and possibly bring heavy rainfall, rough surf, and dangerous rip currents. NHC only gives this one a 10% chance of developing into a depression within the next few days.
The latest update on Tropical Storm Humberto will be out by 10:00 pm tonight. Could possibly be a hurricane by that time. At this point, Humberto continues to not be a threat to the United States other than some rain, rough surf, and rip currents.
