FINE SPRING AFTERNOON: With a good supply of sunshine, temperatures are generally in the 67 to 70 degree range this afternoon. Haven’t heard one person griping about the weather all way.

Tomorrow will be even warmer with mid 70s likely along with a mix of sun and clouds. We will mention a slight risk of a shower late in the day as an upper trough lifts out of Texas, but most of the day will be dry.

MID-WEEK CHANGES: Rain becomes more likely across Alabama tomorrow night into Wednesday morning; looks like the main window for rain will come from 7pm tomorrow through 9am Wednesday. This won’t be a heavy rain event, and I don’t think there will be any thunder; rain amounts will be generally 1/4″ or less.

As the rain moves out Wednesday morning, colder air will blow into the state on brisk northwest winds of 15-30 mph. Temperatures will go the wrong way… we begin the day Wednesday with temperatures in the low 60s, but they will fall through the 50s during the day, perhaps reaching the upper 40s by late afternoon in some places. The strong northwest wind will make it feel colder.

The sky will clear Wednesday night, and a freeze is likely by daybreak Thursday with lows generally in the 27-32 degree range.

THURSDAY/FRIDAY: These two days will be sunny; the high Thursday will be only in the mid to upper 50s, but we reach the 60s Friday. We should also mention Friday morning will cold with potential for another light freeze.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: No doubt we will mention a chance of showers Saturday and Sunday, but we do note the 12Z model runs have come in drier both days. A decent pool of moisture will be in place over the state, but there isn’t a big trigger for a large scale rain event, so for now we will just mention a chance of showers Saturday and Sunday, and we will fine tune the forecast as the weekend gets closer. I don’t think either day will be a “wash-out”. Highs will be in the 60s.

NEXT WEEK: The first half of the week looks dry with seasonal temperatures; highs in the 60s and lows in the upper 30s and low 40s. See the Weather Xtreme video for the maps, graphics, and details.
