ANOTHER GREAT SUNRISE: How about this shot from Hazel Green this morning… from @bamad_14
DRY THROUGH TOMORROW: We are beginning the day with temperatures generally in the 45-55 degree range across Alabama. With a partly sunny sky, we project a high in the upper 60s today, with low 70s possible tomorrow thanks to a short term warming trend. We should see some sunshine tomorrow, but clouds will be on the increase.
SHOWERS RETURN: A cold front will bring a band of showers to Alabama after midnight tomorrow night into early Thursday morning; for our part of Alabama the main threat of showers will come from about 2:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. Thursday. With little upper support and limited moisture, there is no risk of severe weather, and we don’t expect any thunder. And, rain amounts should be light with most locations around here seeing generally under one-quarter of an inch; some places up in Northwest Alabama might see one-half inch.
The sky will become partly sunny Thursday with a chilly north breeze as a new surge of colder air drops into Alabama; I am not so sure we can make it out of the 50s. Then, we will see a low down in the mid 30s early Friday, with some potential for a light freeze across the colder valleys of North Alabama.
FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND: Fantastic fall weather is the story, with mostly sunny days and fair chilly nights. It does look like a surface front will pass through the state over the weekend, but the air will be very dry and it won’t bring anything more than scattered clouds, based on what we are seeing now.
NEXT WEEK: The GFS still is trying to spin up a major storm system over Mid-America at mid-week, which could bring potential for strong storms to Alabama by Thursday (November 14), but the ECMWF model shows absolutely nothing. Model madness, and another reason why we call anything beyond seven days “the land of voodoo”. We will just have to wait and see… see the Weather Xtreme video for the maps, graphics, and details.
WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. Scroll down for the show notes on the new episode we recorded last night.
